Kalymnos Island
The perfect combination all on one island! The picturesque town of Pothia has stores, banks, museums, sights, a hospital and a busy harbour.
Kalymnos has lots of inviting, accessible beaches with crystal clear water for swimming and snorkelling. Some are tiny, peaceful coves, others have kayaks and watersports, beach games, sun loungers and shoreline tavernas.

It's very Greek with a real buzz. Inland and coastal villages are also yours to explore and enjoy - some with shops, restaurants and bars, others with little more than olive trees, a donkey, some colour-washed houses, an idyllic beach and a handful of tavernas serving local, home-cooked food.
Grey-gold mountains that ease into azure waters. The setting sun across an endless sea. Hills with rangy goats, beehives, the pungent aroma of pine needles and wild thyme. Small white-painted churches clinging to a vertical rock face.

Our capital town is the picturesque port of Pothia, built in a dramatic natural amphitheatre. Here you'll find a real slice of Greek life with local people going about their everyday business.
Enjoy shops, banks, an open-air cinema, cultural centre and harbourside cafes and bars from which to watch people and boats go by.
Lovely long stretch of sandy beach, sometimes with big, rolling surf. The sea is shallow for some distance offshore so it's good for children – and the beach is lined by a few bars, tavernas, shops.
Look for the monastery perched up on the rocks and stroll along narrow lanes between orange and olive groves behind the beach. (Steps and climbing can be avoided here!)
No wonder this area is known as Elies, meaning olives. It also includes tamarisk-lined Linaria beach with its waterside fish tavernas.
